Everybody's mommy!

For the last couple of weeks, I've been a mommy. Okay, not really, but I've been the "mommy" component in mommy and me swimming lessons. Of course, I have no children, but I have been going with my nephews. My first nephew, Cameron, was taken by his dad some days, and by me on other days (when his dad had to work.) His mom has recently had a baby, so the two of them came and watched. Today was the first day with my other nephew, Corbin. I will only be going with him today and tomorrow, the days his mom works.
Anyway, swimming lessons are not as easy as they sound. I swear, I thought they would be a piece of cake. Have you ever tried to teach a toddler how to blow bubbles in the water? It seemed so simple, yet was so hard! My one nephew yelled alot when I tried to get him to do them, while the other just drank the pool water (ew!) They both love climbing out of the pool and jumping back in, which was one of the skills they were supposed to be working on. So we spent alot of time on that! Needless to say, my nephews probably did not learn much while I was their "mommy," but there's always next year!

Oregon

Well, we are home from our trip to Oregon. It was alot of fun, and there were many things we did. I have alot of pictures, so scroll on if you dare!

The first stop we made was Multnomah Falls. This was a gigantic waterfall (612 ft!) It was pretty cool. Tracy and I went on a little hike to get closer, but I couldn't make it very far.

Next, we went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. It was amazing!

After the cheese factory, we stopped at some air museum, also in Tillamook, on a whim. There were tons of airplanes there, many from the wars and such. Tracy decided he really needed to try to be a pilot.

The stop at Tillamook was on our way to Tracy's grandma's house. Before we got there, we stopped at a location that was the "first view" of the coast (according to Tracy's mom.)

I am not sure why, but I thought this sign was hilarious. Dumping rubbish prohibited? Rubbish?!?! I think that is the funniest thing ever.

One afternoon, while at Tracy's grandma's house, we decided to go out for pizza and mini-golf. Wow, I'm terrible at mini-golf! In real golf, I'm a great putter. But not when it's on a course with windmills and waterfalls. What can I say, I took last place.

One of our last days there, Tracy's grandma took us to the beach. It was a little chilly, but according to her it was wonderful weather. There were lots of little creatures on the beach, and of course I was freaked out. We did see a whale out in the ocean doing flips. It was pretty cool.

There were tons of dead crabs everywhere. It was a bit revolting. As for the picture...there are no words.

As we were walking along, we found a star fish that was alive! It freaked me out because it was all soft and muscly, but Tracy thought it was fun. He wanted to bring it home, which is just revolting. Instead, he threw it back out to sea.

While we were on our trip to the ocean, we stopped at some caves. Sea lion caves, in fact. Wow, there were tons of sea lions there!

Well, the trip was great! It may seem like we were going going going all the time, but we took some time to relax. It was a wonderful week.

Hooray!

Well, the event I have been counting down for has finally arrived...summer break is here! I am so excited to have some time off of work, so I can get some things done that have been neglected. I am going to do some scrapbookings, since it has been quite some time since I've done that. I've also decided to amp up my domestic side, and try to cook some new things (as in new types of dinners and such.) Any ideas, because I currently have none. I just thought it would be fun to try.


Sure, I have some things to still do for school ( such as move all my things from my old classroom into a new one, and teach a bit of summer school.) But for the most part, I'm done for a few months. Hooray!


In addition to not having to work, I get to go on a vacation this week. Tracy and I are going to Oregon to visit his mom, grandma and aunt. I have never been up there, and it should be fun. We are definitely planning a trip to the Tillamook factory (it's the best cheese around!) I will take lots of pictures of the things we do, and try to blog about it. We'll see...


On a different note, today was a nervewrecking day for both Tracy and me. I had to talk in sacrament with my Young Women's Presidency (yes, I'm in Young Women's for anyone who didn't know.) I get extremely nervous when I have to talk in church. Actually, any type of speaking terrifies me. Of course, this is only the case when I'm speaking in front of my peers. If I'm in front of a group of 100 elementary schoolers, I could care less. I'm as calm as a cucumber. But throw in some adults and I'm a jittery mess! Anyway, my talk was quite short (since there were 5 of us speaking) and it seemed to go well. Nothing to worry about, I guess.


But, I did mention it was nervewrecking for the both of us. Today, Tracy had to teach a Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class. Yep, it's his new calling. He was very nervous, and everybody's comments about how tought that calling would be didn't help. But he did great! I was very proud of him. He looked like a pro up there.

My exciting weekends!

Well, I was told that I need to blog for reasons other than just holidays (if you look at my old posts, it's true, most of them are holiday related...my life is otherwise boring!) Anyway, I decided I would let people in on the secrets of my weekends. For the most part, they are all quite similar. Let me tell you what I did today:

1) Woke up around 8:15 (not as late as I'd like, but I couldn't go back to sleep.)

2) Watched some DVRed shows, such as Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Friends, Law and Order (the first few are kind of silly...yes, I love my game shows!)

3)Finally got in the shower around 10:30.

4)Went to Walmart at noon with my sister, her husband, and their son.

5)Went to my sister's house and spent the afternoon there being lazy (my favorite thing to do!)

6) Went to the hospital so my sister could see if she was in labor (very exciting! And no, she's not in labor.)

7) Had a fun barbeque at my oldest sister's house.

8) Came home and blogged.

Yep, now you see why I have nothing to blog about. My life is currently not very exciting. But I love the things I do. I will keep an eye out for things that I can actually write about, so people WANT to read my blog! (any suggestions?)

Happy Easter

Easter was a fun event! Things typically are, when it comes to my family. It started on Saturday, when we were going to go out to the sand dunes for some sun, fun and food. Of course, it was rainy that day, so we stayed at my mom's and dad's house instead. There was still fun and food though! A barbeque, followed by games, is what consumed our day. So fun!

The next day, Tracy and I woke up to find what the Easter Bunny left for us. Lots of candy, and some movies...can't complain there!

Then we went to my parents' house again for some jelly bean and Easter egg hunts (it's an annual tradition.) It was definitely a lot of fun.

P.S. One more day of school until Spring Break! Yay, I definitely need it.

St. Patrick's Day anyone?

Holy Hannah! I decided to go to the store today to get my students a fun, green treat for tomorrow (since it is St. Patrick's Day.) Well, apparently St. Patrick's Day is not widely celebrated with treats or something. I started at Walmart (where you supposedly find anything you need) and could not find ANYTHING! It was crazy! So I stopped by Smiths grocery store on my way home, just to check, and they had a few things. They did have the delicious Lofthouse cookies I was looking for, but at 4 bucks a package (I need several for my class), I passed. I finally opted for some peeps bunnies. Sure, they are more Easter than St. Paddy's, but they were green! Needless to say, if you are looking for any green treats, I wish you luck!
